Dr Baljinder Chohan

Consultant Gynaecologist

As a Gynaecologist with a passion for women’s health, I am committed to providing high quality patient-centred and evidence-based care for all women. Gynaecological problems are so common that they seem normal but I understand how they can impact day-to-day living for so many women and how it sometimes seems impossible to get an answer or solution. I want to help women understand their bodies and feel hopeful about their Gynaecological health.

I pride myself in applying a holistic approach to my patients and aim to provide personalised care. My key areas of interest are early pregnancy care and benign gynaecology including period problems such as heavy and painful periods and irregular bleeding, pain with sex, vaginal discharge, PCOS and fibroids among others. I am proficient in using transabdominal and transvaginal scanning and feel it is imperative to scan to understand how best to manage gynaecological problems. I qualified from University College London in2006 having also completed an intercalated BSc in Pharmacology.

Having completed my postgraduate training in the Thames Valley region, including at Oxford University Hospital, I have been a substantive consultant at Royal Berkshire Hospital since 2018 where I work as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. I also have a keen interest in medical education and believe it is essential to be involved in the training of our future doctors. On a personal level, I have a wonderful family including two daughters. I enjoy spending time with my family and find reading and completing puzzles relaxing and rewarding. I speak fluent Punjabi and am able to understand Urdu and Hindi
