Consultant Respiratory Physician
Dr Sunit Raja is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Royal Berkshire Hospital and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and Lead of Respiratory Medicine at Brunel Medical School.
He studied at Imperial College London and was awarded his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2012. He was awarded a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Healthcare Management in 2010.
Having completed initial postgraduate medical training in North-West Thames, he completed specialist training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in the Oxford Deanery. He was appointed Chief Registrar at Royal Berkshire Hospital in 2018 leading enhancements in care of patients requiring ventilation with severe respiratory disease and sleep-disordered ventilation.
He is currently the lead for non-invasive ventilation and the Respiratory Support Unit at Royal Berkshire Hospital. He is experienced in managing all aspects of respiratory medicine with specialist interest in sleep-disordered breathing requiring CPAP or non-invasive ventilation, respiratory failure, COPD and asthma. Other areas of interest include bronchiectasis, lung cancer and respiratory interventions including ultrasound-directed pleural drainage, bronchoscopy and EBUS.
