Consultant Cardiologist
Dr Sheref Zaghloul is a Consultant Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist at Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. He provides comprehensive management of all aspects of general cardiology, including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, hypertension, heart failure, tachy , brady arrhythmia and cardiovascular risk reduction. He has a particular interest in coronary artery disease and complex coronary intervention, including intravascular imaging-guided and physiology-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and complex procedures including chronic total occlusion.
Dr Zaghloul graduated in Medicine from Egypt in 2007 and subsequently completed specialist training in Cardiology in 2015. During his training, he obtained dual Master’s degrees in Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine, reflecting a strong foundation in both cardiovascular and acute critical care management. He later completed a Diploma in Echocardiography and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), further enhancing his expertise in modern cardiovascular practice.
Following completion of his cardiology training, Dr Zaghloul undertook advanced cardiology practice in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2020, where he continued to develop his clinical and interventional experience and was awarded a PhD in Cardiology in 2020,subsequently he was appointed Consultant Cardiologist in Egypt, recognising his extensive clinical expertise and commitment to cardiovascular care.
Since relocating to the United Kingdom in 2021, Dr Zaghloul has completed further three years of dedicated subspecialty training in Complex Interventional Cardiology at the Royal Free Hospital, London, During this period, he gained extensive experience in the management of complex coronary disease, advanced PCI techniques, intracoronary imaging, and contemporary interventional cardiology practice. He also completed dedicated training in CT Coronary Angiography at Harefield Hospital.
Dr Zaghloul has successfully achieved the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Cardiology with interventional subspecialty.
His clinical interests include general cardiology, coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, complex coronary intervention, intravascular imaging, coronary physiology, Pacemaker , echocardiography, CT coronary angiography, and cardiovascular prevention
