Prof Ross Hunter

Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist

Professor Ross Hunter is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist (specialist in heart rhythm management). He has 15 years of experience as a consultant arrhythmia specialist. He is the Clinical Director of Arrhythmia Services at The Barts Heart Centre, the largest cardiac centre in the UK and one of the largest in the world, leading a team of 28 excellent arrhythmia consultants. He has served two terms as an elected council member for the British heart rhythm society and was their national scientific lead.

He is an internationally recognised specialist in the management of arrhythmias. He performs catheter ablations for all arrhythmias and according to NICOR, he is consistently one of the highest volume operators in the UK performing approximately 200 complex catheter ablations per year. He also implants, revises and extracts the full range of pacemakers including biventricular pacemakers, ICDs, sub-cutaneous ICDs and leadless pacemakers.

He is at the forefront of his specialty and has rare expertise at the cutting edge of new techniques and technologies including several modalities of PFA and 3D mapping systems for ablation. He has high success rates and very low complication rates verified by independent audit. He sees patients with palpitations, fatigue, breathlessness and chest pain as well as device detected atrial fibrillation.
